We’ll be showcasing tools for characterizing battery materials and investigating defects:
Hot Disk® Thermal Analyzers
Hot Disk instruments measure thermophysical properties, including thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, thermal effusivity, and specific heat capacity. The product line ranges from the basic M1 thermal conductivity meter to the TPS 3500, which is suited to small, high-conducting samples. For battery testing, Hot Cell® sensors are designed for specific heat capacity (Cp) measurements and are available in shapes and volumes for standard battery geometries, including large pouch and prismatic cells, medium-size pouch cells, and cylindrical cells. Custom designs are also available, and Cp testing covers temperatures from -60°C to 180°C.
MicroSupport Micromanipulators for Failure Analysis
MicroSupport micromanipulators support defect and particle isolation under magnification. The Axis Pro benchtop system combines a zoom microscope, a motorized XYZ stage, and two motorized manipulation arms, controlled through a PC interface with simple mouse control. Interchangeable probes and tools allow isolated material to be transferred to carbon tape or another substrate for further analysis, and the system can be used inside a glovebox for air-sensitive samples.
