The Luceo Fullauto StrainEye LSM-9002LE is a fully automatic 2D-measuring system which measures birefringence and retardation values in a transparent sample. The retardation values can be used to determine the strain in the sample using the rotating analyzer method. With this method polarized light passes through the sample and then through another polarizer at a series of angles. Light falls on a CCD to provide XY data on the sample. By combining the data from all the anglesof the second polarizer, the retardation may be calculated.
